Description and Uses
Cefotaxime (cefoselis, FK037) is a fourth-generation cephalosporin. Compared with the commonly used third-generation cephalosporins, it has a wider antibacterial spectrum and has enhanced effects on AmpCβ-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae bacteria.
Cefoselis can inhibit the cross-linking of mucinous peptide chains in the process of cell wall synthesis, so that bacteria cannot form a complete cell wall; eventually induce sensitive bacteria to form filaments, so that the bacteria eventually dissolve and die.
