The conjugated double bond of abietic acid type resin acid in rosin is partially or completely saturated with hydrogen under catalyst, certain temperature and pressure. Rosin with partial double bonds saturated with hydrogen is called hydrogenated rosin and contains 75% of dihydroabietic acid.
