Trigonelline is synthesized from nicotinic acid in many plant species. It has been reported that trigonelline has diverse biological activities, such as hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, neuroprotective, antimigraine, sedative, memory-improving, antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-tumor activities.
