Description and Uses
Lopamidol is a benzenedicarboxamide compound having N-substituted carbamoyl groups at the 1- and 3-positions, iodo substituents at the 2-, 4- and 6-positions and a (2S)-2-hydroxypropanamido group at the 5-position. It has a role as a radioopaque medium, an environmental contaminant and a xenobiotic. Lopamidol is a Radiographic Contrast Agent, it is a benzenedicarboxamide, an organoiodine compound and a pentol.
Lopamidol is a radiopaque (RAY dee oh payk) contrast agent to help diagnose or find problems in the brain, heart, head, blood vessels, and other parts of the body. Iopamidol contains iodine, a substance that absorbs x-rays. Radiopaque contrast agents are used to allow blood vessels, organs, and other non-bony tissues to be seen more clearly on a CT scan or other radiologic (x-ray) examination.
